How to add a site boundary using a ShapeFiles
Steps
- Open QGIS and use the Select Feature tool from the top ribbon to highlight the features you want to export.
- Right-click your layer in the Layers Panel and choose Export → Save Selected Features As...

- In the export dialog, apply the following settings:
Setting | Value |
Format | Esri Shapefile |
Filename | Your chosen file name |
CRS | EPSG:4326 |
Geometry Type | Polygon |
Include Z dimension | No |

- Select all 6 exported files (.shp, .shx, .dbf, .prj, .cpg, .qmd), right-click, and choose Compress / Zip (Mac) or Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder (Windows).

- Open SchemeFlow and drag and drop your .zip file into the shapefile upload zone.

Or, if you have already draw a site boundary, it can be edited with the cog Icon.

Common Errors to Check
- Your Shapefile is zipped
- Right click, zip (on Windows) or compress (on Mac)
- You're not trying to upload a PDF or DWG file.
- We called it "Shapefile upload" for a reason 😉
- You're only including the site boundary polyline
- You're only exporting 2D polylines
- Exports from CAD often default to 3D polylines
- Your coordinate system is EPSG:4326 / WGS84
- Unless your site is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, this is a coordinate system error.
